A trip up north...

Earlier this month we escaped the heat and the fears of living in the global COVID-19 hotspot of Maricopa county and we headed up north.  It was the first time we had really left our home since March 6th.  With the exception of going to pick up groceries in the back of the car, or a quick drive, the kids and I have been home almost every single day since then. 

I could tell we were all desperate to have a change of scenery but I don't think we realized just how desperately we needed it until we got there.  We drove to Flagstaff and we went to Sunset Crater (so neat) and then we walked around the NAU campus.  We were thankful that the area was pretty much empty and we didn't see really anyone near us.  We were extremely cautious, we all wore masks and we were very aware of our actions to make sure were safe. 

We also found a place near a forest, pulled over and had a picnic.  It was glorious.  The kids ran free, even Jennings, explored the great outdoors and we all enjoyed the fresh air.  We enjoyed the flowers, we played freeze tag, we went for walks and we took in the beauty around us.  I can't stress enough just how beautiful and wonderful it was to get a way and have a break. 

Here are a few of our pictures from the fun quick trip up north.  We hope we will get to sneak away again while being safe and spending quality time.

I loved this picture.... it reminded me that even when all hope seems lost, there is still a reason to believe and try. 

Yes they are still fighting... thank goodness, still healthy right?

This guy got to feel grass for the first time.  He liked it.

The birthday boy is 1 today!

With the COVID-19 pandemic still running wild in our state, we have been very careful and staying home, avoiding as many outings and contacts with others as possible.  We also decided that taking Jennings 1st birthday pictures at home would be best.  

Michael ended up taking the pictures and mom played the roll of looking silly, acting crazy and making funny noises to get him to laugh and smile.  I think it worked out as the pictures turned out pretty nice, I think.

This is the cake we made him.  Definitely not as good as a professional but will work. :-)

Jennings loves the Mickey Mouse Clubhouse song, "Keep Moving" and it has been our go tube YouTube video when he gets upset in the car.  I think the video has 15 million views and the boys say we've probably been at least 3 million of them. 

It was for that reason we decided taking his pictures with a Mickey them was the way to go. 

Sure love that little guy.  Sometimes I look at him and still can't believe he is ours.  What a nice year it has been.

Happy birthday Jennings.  We all love you so much!
