There were many things that made this Christmas season special and as we completed each tradition, I reminded myself to cherish each moment. I've already seen in the past three years how quickly the boys have grown.
From decorating Christmas tree after tree to painting glass ornaments, making cookies, and singing Christmas carols. Each year is filled with happiness, love and moments of memory making.
I love Christmas because I feel it is the one time during the entire year, when priorities are not centered around work but instead family and friends. It is a time to snuggle up with those you love and spent time just being with each other.
Its a time to think about and cherish the gifts one has, not the ones purchased from a store, but one's grown from the heart.
Its the time of year to be silly. To laugh. To enjoy.
Its the time of year to celebrate the beauty, the innocence and the wonders of being a child. Its those moments when children do the unexpected....
and the look you get when you catch them in the act.
Its about the lights, how pretty they are reflecting in the crisp winter air, or in the tiny hands of inquiring minds.
And the letters to Santa. With begs and pleas for an I-Pad and I-Phone. It's the little boy who promises Santa a "nice picture" in exchange for his most desired gift.
Its the unplanned, but warmly welcomed visits to help care for an ill baby. Those visits that were not on the calendar or anticipated for weeks, but are the biggest memory makers and bonding moments that children (and Grandma's) will never forget.
And it is the pure happiness Christmas brings, whether your a baby experiencing your first Christmas, a little boy celebrating his 5th and 7th or a child at heart where your 87th Christmas is just as special as your first.
And as Michael pointed out, Christmas is awesome but even better when you get to sit next to "pretty girls"
And Christmas can not be complete without the building of a gingerbread house. A house that lasted no longer than 5 minutes because 5 little kids couldn't wait any longer to start devouring the candy!
And spontaneous Christmas caroling with family, where each person had a chance to pick their favorite Christmas carol for the whole family to sing. If Normal Rockwell was there, I think his masterpiece would look something like this...
Awe Christmas.... I love thee so. And although the calendar says the 25 is past, and the stores have moved onto to stocking Valentines day items, this mom is holding on to the magic of the season.
So Merry Christmas all and to all a good night!
Until next time,
Angie
