Four months... how can it be?

Yesterday Madelyn turned 4 months.  It wasn't until about midway through the day that I realized it.  The three month mark was a big milestone in my mind, her passing out of the newborn stage and in comparison to pregnancy, she had passed the first trimester.  I felt like when I was pregnant those first three months took years to pass by, but now that Madelyn is here, it felt like the first three months passed in the blink of an eye.

And now she's four months.  I feel like a broken record but it continues to be true... Madelyn is a wonderful baby.  She's always so happy.  I mean seriously... so happy.  She wakes up happy, she's happy all day and she goes to sleep happy.  The only time she fusses is if she's hungry and I have not responded to her sucking her hands or if she's overtired.  We do our best to keep her fed and naps when she needs, so 99.9% of the time, she's happy.

Madelyn seems to grow and change daily, mastering new skills and growing into her personality with each passing moment.  Some of her most recent developments are laughing.  She's been giggling since about three months but now she does it frequently.

Maddie has also been trying very hard to sit up.  She still is pretty wobbly and falls to one side or the other, but is working on strengthening those ab muscles.  She is getting stronger at tummy time lifting herself up off the floor and looking around.  She hasn't quite mastered rolling yet, but turns on her side with ease.  

Madelyn continues to sleep well, only getting up still once to eat.  Lately I'm not sure if it is that she wan't to get up in the middle the night or if it is mom who needs her to eat in the middle of the night.

I cherish these moments. 

Some of your favorite things are your brothers and Isabelle and Nana and Papa... you light up when they come to care for you. Oh and I think you're pretty okay with Mommy and Daddy too.  

Please don't grow so fast.

Got rolls? 

Today we went to the doctor and thankfully Daddy came this time so mommy could look away as they gave you your shots.  Mommy hates that part just as much as you. 

The doctor took one look at you said you are doing great.  Growing like a weed (mommy's words) and that you don't have to get up in the middle of the night anymore.  The doctor said we should move you to your sister's room, but mom's not ready to let you get that far out of her sight.  Baby steps aren't just for babies right?  

Maddie you are growing right up and staying at the top of the charts.  Here are your stats as of today...

Head circumference:  16 1/2 (86%)

Height/Length: 26 inches (96%) - 2 inches longer since 2 months

Weight: 16.13 oz (92%)  Up 3 pounds since your 2 month check

Yep Maddie you're doing great.  You continue to be so loved by all of your family. Our love for you grows just as quickly as you yourself are growing. 

Mommy loves the way you've been curling up into my shoulder and snuggle up into my neck.  Although you can't talk yet, mommy feels like its you saying you love me too.  Please don't stop with the snuggles, no matter how big you grow.  

Stay small baby, mommy loves your cuddles and those sweet cheeks!
