In one of our final acts of kindness this year, we have decided to prepare gift baskets filled with food, snacks, goodies and cards of thanks for those who serve.
Often when we asked our children what they want to be when they grow up, most often the response is, I want to be a soldier, a police officer, a firefighter, a teacher. As I think about those careers, all of them are professions that serve others. And that got me thinking, how often do I take the time to thank those who serve me, serve our family, our community, our country? And if I’m being honest, the answer…. not very often, definitely not enough.
For those soldiers that volunteer to serve our country… thank you.
For the men and women who run into a burning building to save a life or a structure… thank you.
To the police officers that often run toward danger while others run away… thank you.
To the EMT’s, first responders and volunteers that provide triage and medical assistance in the face of crisis situations… thank you.
To the teachers that instill values, lessons and knowledge into the future of our country, our children… thank you.
There are so many more individuals to thank, and if we had more resources, we’d love to thank each and every one of you. For those though that we can reach,on Saturday, October 1 we plan on to take some time to recognize and thank you for what you do.
Last year we visited several fire and police stations and it was really fun for the kids to listen to those that protect us.
This year we look forward to saying thank you again.
