sick, sick sick

In the last 10 days, we've been passing around another bug in our house. 

Isabelle and Gabriel have had their few days of feeling terrible and were praying Michael is spared.

The kids ran such high fevers and even though it was 117 and 119 outside, the kids couldn't say warm enough. 

Here's Isabelle while she fights a 104.2 degree fever on the way home from the doctor....

And here's Gabriel sitting in our oven-like garage wrapped in a blanket because he couldn't get warm enough.  If it was only 117 outside I have no idea what the temperature in our garage was.  All I can say is that mom did NOT enjoy sitting outside with him while he tried to warm up.

Here's hoping were on our way to a healthy streak.  Again.

Friday night bubbles...

Since it literally is almost 120 degrees outside (hence Isabelle's lack of clothing), we find ourselves becoming more and more creative with activities to do inside.  And this past Friday night was no exception.   While some people enjoy a Friday night happy hour, or an evening at the movies or out for dinner, we did this...

Yep, that's right, we played bubbles.

INSIDE.

We decided a few bubbles on the floor was worth it. 

The kids LOVED playing bubbles and in the short time we played, Isabelle learned how to demand more bubbles.  She now says BUBBLES over and over and over as she reaches for the high counter where she can see the botttle.

What was suppose to be our one night of indoor bubbles has turned into a nightly affair of bubbles in the air and bubbles on the floor.

 

I'm trying to look at it on the positive side, maybe we're in a way washing our floor.  This might turn out to be a good thing for all of us.

As you wish...

When MaeLyn and Aaron came to visit, one of the activities we participated in, was going to As You Wish, a pottery painting place.  We've taken the boy's once before and they loved it, so when we heard we were going again, they were thrilled.

Michael decided to paint a penguin. 

While MaeLyn and Aaron decided to paint a plate together.   And it wasn't just my boys there were excited, Aaron was as well.

Meanwhile, Isabelle was excited just to play with the marker caps.  Here she had just figured out how to take the lid off of one of the markers. 

And then she figured out how to put the caps back on. 

Gabriel decided to paint a dog, which is decided he wanted it to look like Jack.  He wrote on the it, I heart you and #1 dog. 

And while everyone else took their time making sure their special pottery item was perfect, Isabelle continued to play with markers.

 

It was a really fun day and everyone enjoyed the outing,

Happy 4th of July!

I wrote this post exactly a year ago.  Hard to believe a year has gone by.  It is crazy how fast time goes.  As we get ready to go watch fireworks tonight, I was reflecting on last year and about how much has changed and yet one thing remains the same.... we still are so blessed. 

As we celebrate our nation's birthday, I can't help but think of all those service men and women, that help to keep this country safe and free.  I'm so thankful for all they have and continue to do.  For as we celebrate our freedom and the wonderful blessings this country provides, I am reminded that freedom is not free.  Thanks to all the service men and women out there, those who have made the ultimate sacrifice and for those who've done all they could (and continue to do) to make this the greatest nation.  One Nation, Under God, With Liberty and Justice for All.

Today we celebrate Independence Day and although I won't be able to publish this for several more weeks/months, we had to capture Isabelle's first 4th of July in photos...

Mom you always make me hold this silly handwritten, totally unprofessional or cute sign.  You should really work on your craft skills... and make something cute!

Wordless Wednesday... Believe in the wonder

A month ago we went camping and Michael found this little guy.

 

Who overnight turned into this little guy.  And boy he must have made one comfy home because he's been in there for weeks.  In fact he's been in there so long, Jarrett and I started to lose hope that maybe our caterpillar caring  for skills were lacking too much.

And tonight as I wiped the counters and moved the mayo jar for one last time, I told Jarrett I thought it was time to tell Max goodbye.  And that's when I looked down to see this...

As excited as Jarrett and I were, the boys were completely speechless.  After waking them up from their sleep, they couldn't seem to find words to vocalize the transformation that happened in front of us.

 

As we set Max free tonight to begin his journey as a new butterfly, it reminded me of the awe and wonder that is everywhere in our lives.  If we only take the time to stop, to admire and to believe in the beauty that truly is all around.
