After our trip for spring break we were lucky enough to have some great friends from Iowa come out to spend their spring break with us. Friends from when we were in high school and college Kerry and Chris smith (also high school sweethearts) brought out their wonderful kiddos to enjoy an Arizona spring. I hope they weren’t disappointed, in our “spring” time weather which was in the 90’s. We had so much fun spending a few days with them.
They visited the Grand Canyon and Sedona and when they were here we took them to Rustler’s Rooste (and even tried rattle snake), to the Museum of Natural History (where they got to pan for gold) and on a private tour of the Arizona Diamondbacks stadium (even though they are Cardinals fans)- I think it was pretty cool. Of all the things we got to do together, it was the most fun to catch up and talk while the kids played. My kiddos had such a great time playing, they begged to ride in the Smith car and I think Gabriel purposefully forgot his baseball team hat in their car- in the hope we’d just have to see them the next day (even though their flight was leaving super early in the morning).

| Trying a piece of Rattlesnake |
| Kerry and Chris tried it too, I'll let you decide if they liked it! |
| One of the fun things about Rustler's Rooste is the slide. The kids loved it! |
The Museum of Natural History
| The first jail cell in Mesa. |
| Isabelle deciding she wasn't a fan of the sink or toilet. |
| We got to pan for gold... even through it was St. Patrick's day and the Smiths were celebrating, I'm not sure they found that much gold. |
The tour of the Diamondbacks Stadium
| Them getting to test out the bullpen phone in the dugout. The kids got to try it out and it turns out it actually rings. Totally old school... no cell phones there! |
| We got to down onto the field. It was COOL! |
| Doesn't he look so grown up? |
| Love this family! |
| We really wanted to test out the pool in the field. |
Boys dreaming big... and by dreaming big, I'm talking about them playing in the big leagues. Wouldn't it be so cool?

We sure had a lot of fun with the Smiths. It reminded me of old times, before kids, and even our weddings. Kerry and I lived together in college and grew very close as we planned our weddings, completed college internships in separate cities over the summer and worked together at the Admission Visitor Center at The University of Iowa. I sure miss seeing her regularly but just like good friends, the miles don’t matter and it seems we can pick right up where we left off, even if it’s been weeks or months.
We sure enjoyed having them visit and hope they’ll come back again. We promise it isn’t always 90 degrees in March. We look forward to the next time our families can get together.
Thanks Smiths for spending your spring break with us! It was sure fun!
Until next time,
Angie
