So after have a wonderful 4th of July we started out the next morning by heading to Six Flags Over Texas! To our surprise the park was not as busy as we expected. We soon realized why. It isn't very pleasant to spend the day in 100 plus weather with about 80% humidity. It is HOT.
But we were excited to be there and the kids were determined they were going to ride on every possible ride, including the big scary rides!
Our first stop was the carousel. Can you tell Madelyn was more excited about riding the horses than taking another picture for Mom.
Yep, she was a happy girl!
Michael was too!
Gabriel was too, I think. I couldn't get him to turn around. I think after I asked him if his eyes were in the back of his head and if that's why he was wearing his sun glasses like that, he was annoyed. "Mom, seriously" (followed by an eye roll) I think were his exact words.
After a few rides we decided to split up and dad and the boys went one way, and the girls and I went the other. At first Isabelle was game and then she decided all the "kids" rides were too boring. The girl wanted to go on the big rides. Turns out she has NO fear and did not hesitate once about going on the big rides. So we decided to get back together as a group. The only bummer was Madelyn wasn't able to go on anything and because not many people were at the park that day, they didn't have any shows or other activities for her to do. Thankfully she was pretty easily entertained just by looking around.
Here we are on a Ferris wheel ride. Does she look like she just got out of the shower. No she didn't, it just that we were sweating buckets.

Love those pigtails on Belle! Her hair was getting so long we decided keeping it up and braided help keep her cool! (or should I say cooler)

After a few hours and a few crazy rides, the heat was starting to get to us and the headache was kicking in, (I mean there is some serious whip-lash on some of those big rides), so we decided to find a cooler place to eat lunch. We sat in Johnny Rockets and ate the most expensive meal of our trip... cheeseburgers and fries. Got to love park prices!
Madelyn was not thrilled! The other two patiently waited for their lunch, I think they enjoyed the cooler air too.
Here's how Madelyn enjoyed the afternoon. With it being so hot she decided to throw modesty out the window and let it all hang out.
Here the boys and Isabelle are on the swings. It was just a warm up to the really big set of swings they went on a bit later in the day.
Madelyn's hair made curls we didn't even know she had.

Dad's expression in this picture doesn't really need words. This is what it feels like to take 4 kids of different ages to one of the biggest amusement parks on one of the hottest days of the Texas summer!
The kids decided after lunch it was time for a water ride. Dad, Madelyn and I sat and watched them. And just as they came down the huge hill this appeared above the wave...
I couldn't help but smile and think... how perfect, he was with us too.
And then it was time for the boys to head to the big swings. Yes that red, white and blue thing just behind the wave ride.
I took this picture as the others were riding a roller coaster and I really love it. It would be only minutes later the boys would insist on riding the swings.
Finally, the heat got the most of Madelyn and she gave in to her sleepiness.
The Texas SkyScreamer is the swing ride and just so happens to be a Guiness World Record certificate holder for being the highest in the world. Yep the boys loved it. Meanwhile the whole time they were on it, I was a nervous wreck, searching the ride constantly to make sure nothing was going wrong.
Never had I been so happy to see them walk off a ride.
It was then we had to go back to the baby swings for one more ride.
And then they insisted on going on Isabelle's favorite roller coaster about 4 more times. She loved it!!! Didn't scare her one bit. I was so surprised.
After several hours of delaying our impending leave, we finally convinced the kids it was time to go. Where we started the park at the carousel, we ended it there too.
It sure was a fun (hot) time but glad to know that even as a family with wide ages between the kids, we were able to find something we all enjoyed.
As we got to the car, the boys had to point out to us the big roller coaster they had gone on when we split up. They said they felt like they were going to pass out when they finally got to the bottom of the big hill. So glad I didn't go on that one.
After a fun long day at the park we got back to our room and decided to enjoy our last evening at the hotel. I think we were all feeling those end-of-vacation-blues start to kick in.

We all said this hotel room was probably the nicest place we've ever stayed. I don't think any of us wanted to leave.
All of them are growing up so fast.
I told them I wanted a nice family picture if we could dare to try and make it happen.

This picture makes me think, Dad's time of being taller than Gabriel is coming to an end soon too!
This is the point when Madelyn decided to throw her toy over the balcony.

which sent Isabelle into a tizzy, that almost ruined her whole vacation, because of course it was Isabelle's toy that was lost.
She's trying to decide how to get it back, meanwhile her big brothers thought it was pretty funny.
So we tried to distract her and went down to the lobby.
The girls were determined that the log fire would work like candles on a birthday cake. They blew so hard to try and blow them out, it was pretty funny.
By this point Isabelle had completely forgotten about the toy and was happy once again!
The girls loved the colored flowers.
Inside the resort they have several shopping stores including a toy store and a kids clothing store. Madelyn LOVED these boots and if they weren't $75 I would have bought them. Instead she settled for a headband.

Soon it was time to pack up our bags as our trip was coming to an end. But we had one more stop to make in Dallas before heading home. The George W. Bush museum and as you see below, we weren't sure they were going to let us in.
