Week 2.5: A healthy and busy week.

Its hard for me to believe Madelyn will be three weeks old in just 2 days.  Where have the last three weeks gone?

I look at her today and am confident she's almost 10 pounds.  I am not sure, but the way I see her changing looks in front of me, and filling out her clothes each day, I'm pretty sure all that milk she's drinking is going somewhere (and not just in wet diapers).

Madelyn continues to be a wonderful baby.  Seriously I feel like we won the lottery.  She sleeps like a trooper at night (still afraid to say too much as I don't want to change the great run she's been on) but she wakes up usually once (maybe twice) a night.  Usually she wakes up between midnight and 2 to eat and then again between 5:30 and 7.  I guess I only count that as once per night, because the morning feeding is usually after the other kids are up, so I guess I just consider that a morning feeding.

Speaking of the other kids, they continue to adore her, and I mean adore her.  We have a hard time keeping Isabelle from smothering her with kisses.  She LOVES to talk to Madelyn, often singing "Twinkle Twinkle" anytime Madelyn makes a peep.  Tonight, Isabelle wanted to hold her, so I helped her and the love she has for her little sister is so visible, I couldn't help but record it.

The boys continue to love on her too, although its often in between their sporting activities or their lego adventures.  Michael says he think's Madelyn is perfect and loves her pretty face.  It makes me smile to see all the kids so in love with their baby sister.

I find myself taking picture after picture of Madelyn as I want to remember this time forever.  I've already seen her grow so much I want to freeze time and cherish each moment of her being this young.  Of course I know life doesn't go like that, so I fill up my phone most days with memory before 10 a.m.

This week also started my adventures of being a mom with 4 kiddos at home and no other help.  I'm not gonna lie, it was a bit scary to try and get out of the house Monday morning with all the kids in tow on time.
Everyone loaded and ready to go... and we even made it to bible school before the start time.  I call that a victory.

I'm not sure how I'm going to do it when I go back to work, but I've thankfully got a couple more weeks to figure that out.  This week so far I've ventured to the grocery store (while the three bigs were at vacation bible school), the post office with all 4- yes that was an adventure, and to the bank- we made it through the drive through with all 4.  Got to start somewhere right?
A rare moment in our house when it was quiet and everyone was on task.  It lasted a few minutes.

I told Jarrett that while I am LOVING this time with Madelyn, and actually all the kids being at home, I've definitely learned I'm not destined to be a stay-at-home-mom full time.  I desperately count down the minutes til Jarrett says he's gonna walk through the door, as I miss having an adult conversation.  The amount of fights I put out each day, the arguments over socks, cereal bowls, toothbrushes, even legos is enough to make a person crazy.  And it seems that the minute I sit down to feed Madelyn, all heck breaks loose for everyone else.  I just try to take a deep breath and deal with one thing at a time... not gonna lie though, so love having Jarrett here at night to help me with the craziness that is our house.
She has really long fingers...

and really big feet too!

And with that note, I'm going to sign off for tonight.  My head is pounding, my eyes are dreary and the idea of going to sleep now (yes at 8:38 p.m.) sounds pretty darn sweet.  So on that note, I'll leave you with a few of the pictures I've snapped in the last couple of days.
All dressed up for church

Until next time,
